Overview

From #1 Bestselling teen author, Joseph Medina, comes a story about love, challenges, and creativity: Out of the Ordinary. Elle's life? Totally normal. Wake up, go to school, maybe hang with her bestie – rinse and repeat. Life in New York is fun. Until Jeremiah shows up with his goofy grin and a knack for saying the most unexpected things, and suddenly things get way more interesting. This winter, though, is about to be anything but chill. Cleaning out her mom's attic, Elle stumbles upon a worn leather journal – her mom's old bucket list, filled with dreams ranging from "See the Grand Canyon at sunset" to the slightly more eyebrow-raising "Learn to play the ukulele." Determined to honor her mom's memory (and maybe escape her own predictable routine), Elle decides to tackle the list, no matter how crazy it gets. Luckily, Jeremiah, who seems to have a talent for appearing at the most opportune (and sometimes inconvenient) moments, is along for the ride. He's funny, cute in a slightly awkward but totally endearing way, and somehow makes even the most awkward bucket-list items – like "Attend a Renaissance Faire in full costume" – seem like a blast. As they road trip to quirky roadside attractions, attempt questionable craft projects, and maybe even work up the nerve for that skydiving adventure, Elle starts to see a whole new side of herself – a braver, more spontaneous side. And yeah, she's definitely seeing a whole new side of Jeremiah too, one that makes her heart do a little flutter-kick. Suddenly, checking off lists isn't the only thing making her heart race. The biggest item on the list? Publishing her mom's unfinished novel. This means navigating the cutthroat world of New York publishing, dealing with demanding editors, and facing the daunting task of finishing a book that holds her mother's final words. It's a challenge that pushes Elle to her limits, forcing her to confront her grief and fight for her mother's legacy. Jeremiah, always by her side, offers unwavering support and a surprising understanding of the literary world. With that, her and Jeremiah need to find a way to uncover Elle's lost sister, Madison. But how? Could this crazy winter of unexpected adventures, shared laughter, and a monumental publishing journey turn into something real, something way beyond a winter fling?
